I am now accepting submissions for the Premiere Summer Issue. The
deadline for submissions is June 30th, 2009. Any submissions received after
that date will be considered for future issues.
I am not a literary snob. Whether or not you have been published before, how
many times, how many books, etcetera etcetera blah, will not be my basis for
publishing your work. I publish work that grips me, that grabs my attention,
that makes me think, reflect, keep looking, keep reading. I like variety, I like
fun, openness, friendliness, reflection, introspection, dirty, clean, quirky,
repulsive, silly, bohemian, tranquil...you get the drift.
I am here for the purpose of art and literature. We all write and paint, we all
have a craft because we have a voice, something to say, something to share.
This IS NOT an e-zine that picks over a wealth of excellent work and publishes
only 'strictly book-worthy' poetry. That's not how we work around here.
Besides, whose to say what's 'good enough' or not? We publish it if it's worth
reading, worth saying.
We do, however, expect you to use proper grammar, spelling, and
punctuation. We expect the writing to be up to par, and we won't publish just
anything. But we don't omit stuff either, if it's of good quality, strong
voice....interesting. Putting it simply, don't send the "roses are read, violets
are blue" sort of stuff. That's not original. I'm sure you get what I'm saying.
I am NOT looking for overly-flowery prose, adolescent rants, religious
innuendos, blatant pornography, greeting card rigmarole, and WILL NOT
accept derogatory, discriminatory, or racist material.
I also appreciate art/writing/poetry that deviates from the norm. I like to feel
an expression. I like to go where the writer's been. I want the work to draw a
reaction from its audience. I want originality!
By submitting you agree you are the sole creator of your work and the
creation of your art, you own all rights to the publishing of your work, therefore
you are not performing an infringement of copyright. I am mainly looking
for recently unpublished work, but will accept previously published work as
long as you include a reference of the source at the end of your piece.
Please remember that even as your work is archived or showcased in the
Magazine, you still maintain the complete copyright and sole rights to your
pieces.
By submitting you also agree and permit that at some point in the future, your
work might be included in an anthology of collected works of Muse Cafe
Quarterly.
I will be doing print editions every quarter. If you are NOT ok with this,
do not submit. If you have already submitted and were not aware of this
and you are NOT OK with it, let me know and I will remove your work
from the print editions. Thank you.
I would also appreciate that you pay me the common courtesy of a
mentioning if the pieces(s) I showcase on my site are published elsewhere in
the future.
I ACCEPT any style, format, and subject matter (with the exception of my
guidelines above).
