~A woman who writes feels too much, those trances and portents!  As if cycles and children and islands
weren't enough; as if mourners and gossips and vegetables were never enough.  She thinks she can
warn the stars.  A writer is essentially a spy.  Dear love, I am that girl.~ Anne Sexton

(a three-year-long process).
"Ok, I'm busy.  Snap that picture so I
can return to my 24 hour read-a-thon!"
Instead of writing about pink, I'm
wearing it...nevermind that it's my
absolute
most favorite color!
Stacy Lynn Mar was born and raised in a tiny town in Eastern
Kentucky.  She was blessed with a close-knit family and a beautiful
daughter  (whom have inspired many of her autobiographical and
childhood poems).

She currently holds two degrees in Human Services with an
emphasis on counseling.  Stacy is due to graduate from Capella
University in November 2010 with a Masters in Counseling Studies
and certification in Profession
al and Addiction counseling.

Stacy appreciates the realm of professional helping, and aspire
s to
reach those whose lives are impacted by substance abuse
.  She will
begin working on her PhD in General Psychology with an emphasis
on Drug Addiction in January 2011.
 Since she also thoroughly
enjoys writing poetry, and aspires to continue writing, publishing,
and reaching out to others through verse and words.  Stacy plans to
write her thesis on the therapeutic approach of creative writing,
mainly poetry, as a form of psychotherapy.  She hopes to specialize
in poetry, verse, words and creative journaling as a basis for her
therapy.

"I double majored in college, " Mar states when asked of her innate
interest in poetry.  "I always felt trapped between a major in English
and a major in Human Services, and trying to make a choice was like
wrestling a crossbar from within the grasp of a giant."

Stacy feels that in addition to her P
hD and internship, her expansive
studies in human services, addictions treatment/prevention, and
grant-writing will prove beneficial in creating in (and out) of school
literacy-based programs.  She also plans to do something proactive
in bringing a stronger interest (and active practice) of poetry into the
school system
and corrections facilities.

"I grew up in a home where books were abundant, education was
important and spiritual growth was fostered," Stacy says of her
background.  "Not attending college was never an option, and my
parents always encouraged me to seek outside the box because my
world was only as broad as the sky."
Background
"The first full piece of writing I ever completed was in the fourth
grade, after which my teacher at the time (Mrs. Belhasen) read the
story to the class and proclaimed to me that she knew I was going
to be a writer someday," Stacy's says when asked of her first
experience with writing.  "Throughout my school years I was always
an avid reader, I would often cut class early for a detour to the
library.  Reading was my sinful pleasure, though towards my later
years in high school I also worked part time so reading and writing
took the backseat for a time.  I did continue to write poetry, for me
it's always been a constant, I'm not sure I could go without writing."

Stacy has been published in over thirty magazines (on and offline),
some of those including:  The Dande Review, Mastodon Dentist,
Nefarious Ballerina, All Things Girl, Poets Haven, The Beat, LIT UP
Magazine, Mad Swirl, Muse Cafe Quaterly, Think Pink, Della
Donna, Pens on Fire, Negative Sucks, The Litter Box, Chippens,
